- Blossomwashere - Blossom, second time at this meet, but never said anything in the first one. Has been hopping around and trying to contribute - does writing and editing.
- Guild-wide Discussions
- Governance coordinator elections - poll (#writers-polls) and thread (#writers-governance) set up
- want to see a fellow scribe as Gov Coordinator? Add their name to the poll!
- More deets in the message
- TO GET TO THE THREAD, go to #writers-governance, click on the # icon at the top and join the thread
- Best use of project revenue: percentage returned to Guild multisig, or BANK buy-back? This is a continuation of the discussion from last week.
- check out thread in #writer-general
- long-term stuff: treasury needs revenue to survive long-term, and BANK buyback is very lucrative for projects, so assuming all projects go this way, then it wouldn’t b a viable long-term strat as treasury needs revenue to survive
- another approach: projects accept BANK as currency, encouraging consumers to buy BANK (instead of project buying BANK)
- do we need signoff from treasury? There’s not really much stopping us from this
- Frank America feels that he needs some sort of consensus around this
- forum post: https://forum.bankless.community/t/project-value-alignment/2709
- Thread: https://discord.com/channels/834499078434979890/935252753113051146/935252878694678588****
- What does BANK buyback actually mean?
- In general, we are paying people in BANK and people are selling it (for life, for other tokens, etc). More selling than buying means the price goes down
- Buying BANK on a whole would drivee the price up, which increases everyone’s relative value of BANK
- For projects, this is pretty good - instead of sending money to treasury, we continue to have resources to make good shit.
- i.e. we buy BANK from Uniswap and use it to pay people to make more stuff
- How are revenue-generating projects handling revenue?
- newsletter is a special animal - funded by treasury and 90% of rev goes back to treasury
- now with Balancer sponsorship, they are getting BAL which goes direct to treasury
- there’s a lot of un-agreed dynamics at play
- This will likely be based on what projects want to do - we’ll see who actually wants to do this
- Waiting for an answer - we may never get one. We should do what works for us and see what happens
- so we can decide on an approach, ask stakeholders, and get it shot down or pushed forward
- Experimentation
- we need to make sure if we do this, that we are collecting some data to ensure we’re moving in a positive direction
- Next steps?
- Take it back to the teams: CS, Newsletter, EPA
- ACTION: each team lead (Frank America, Siddhearta, SamanthaJ) discuss this at their own meets, bring back the consensus to the next Council of Writers
Status on Governance Doc?
- Jake and Stake: probably 3 weeks out, but governance coordinator will pull this together once elected
- ACTION: Jake and Stake to get the doc up for ratification by end of week
Guild-wide writing sprint
- Our pipeline is starting to be less full
- Would like to use bounty pool to increase the rip on articles
- currently getting 2 BANK/word, capped at 3K BANK/article
- How much should we add?
- How about doing it during a down-time in the DAO?
- A little worried about quality of articles - hopefully not going to have a super-tight timeframe
- Plug for writer’s workshop: they are super fun
- we start with a tactic every week
- maybe we can use this as a starting point for this endeavour?
- In chat: Is there a pitch session or something to discuss potential article topics?
- no pitch session, but we have a backlog of old ideas you can use if you want
- you can just write any topic you like, but if you’re not sure it’s a good fit for publications, then drop a line
- New governance doc will mean that everyone has to do at least one piece of work
- Why aren’t people writing?
- Overall vision? There is usually a pointed vision or area and people can add their capacity towards it. i.e. WHY are we writing?
- Onboard 1B people by creating user-friendly onramps
- Not just about educating about crypto, but also up-level people in crypto
- Early on we had a lot of energy around building and creating
- Maybe a clearer idea list? Not to ASSIGN topics to writers, but finding a topic might be a barrier
- +1 - some people just do well with some direction - you have a task and a path to getting paid. If you are one of thee people who prefers to have work assigned - send a message to Samanthaj
- If you’re learning crypto, then write down what you learned!
- ACTION: WG huddle how they will approach figuring this out
DAO Heat
- check out the listing in the #writers-general, has the format and the topic
