As BanklessDAO, we have been producing fantastic content about web3 & crypto through two main mediums: written content and podcasts. Most of this content is geared towards folks who are already red-pilled into crypto or are generally interested in reading or listening to podcasts as a medium of consuming information.
However, the average person who is far away from being red-pilled, or even completely hates crypto, will be reluctant to read or listen to our content no matter how many tokens we airdrop someone for their attention. On the other hand, the average person enjoys music, movies, and on-demand visual content. If we are to onboard folks with these interests into crypto, we have to produce content in these type media platforms and along the theme of content that is ‘entertaining’ for the average person.

On the way to onboarding the next billion people into crypto, we will encounter people who do not enjoy reading or listening to podcasts. However, there are many more people who generally enjoy listening to music and vibe with their favorite artists. DAOBeatz will help onboard the next billion by helping musicians create music NFTs as well as creating music NFTs for bDAO and other DAOs in web3.
The DAOBeatz team has been working hard over the past few weeks and this grant is divided into retroactive funding as well as funding for future work all the way till the 4th of May 2022, where we will release a music NFT which vibes with crypto and bDAO memes as our first release for the first birthday of the BanklessDAO.
5% of all proceeds from all NFTs sold by the DAOBeatz project will be sent to the Bankless DAO treasury.
All NFTs produced by DAOBeatz will be published under the (CC0) Creative Common license.
The DAOBeatz project has three overarching major goals:
Musicians, today, live in a world where they receive less than 10% of the proceeds from their music as income. Record labels and streaming platforms take away most of the revenue as ‘middle-men’. Web3 and NFTs offer musicians a way to monetize their content by making it directly interactable with their audience. A music creator can now earn a good life by selling his/her work to their hundred true fans instead of earning a few bucks for a million on Spotify.
However, many musicians do not have the tools or understanding necessary to enable this transition. Initially we will work with musicians and bands who already want to take the NFT route and design workflows, enable processes and ‘hand-hold’ them to their first NFT drops. In the long term, we want to enable the musicians to create and drop their own NFTs as well as work with other musicians who are yet to understand the benefits of NFTs for their music.
