Activity status has been a subject that has been extensively discussed but did not end up having any clear procedure or defined framework yet. The purpose of this draft is to propose a clear working framework around activity status.

Currently an active node is defined as a node that has:

  1. a Node Champion that is at least a BanklessDAO L1 (has at least 35k BANK in their wallet)
  2. posts at least one newsletter/video per week

So far we assumed a binary between being active (fulfilling both requirements) and being inactive (failing to fulfil one or both requirements). However, we have seen, in the past that this binary did not necessarily reflect the situations in the nodes. Contributors to nodes being often still engaged with the node, but for various reasons failing to respect certain posting schedules. That is why, I propose introducing a third status: partially active.

Partially active refers to a node which partially fails to fulfil one or both activity requirements. For example: if a node had a L1 champion but they had to sell their BANK, the node can declare partially active status. OR if a node cannot publish content every week of a month, for various reasons (contributors had personal issues, or the node was engaged in another campaign or any other type of activity) the node can declare partially active status.

If a node maintains partially active status for more than 3 months, the node should be declared inactive, because it is clear it cannot uphold itself to the general expectations imposed on the nodes.

If a node is partially active, they should be eligible for all the KPIs compensations, but they should be not eligible for the 3 months in a row incentive as specified in the S6 proposal .

TLDR:

3 activity statuses:

  1. Active - fulfils both requirements for activity status
  2. Partially active - partially fulfils one or both requirements for activity status
