Projects are where the guilds guide initiatives that aims to contribute the DAO by revenue streams or brand image, in alignment with the BanklessDAO mission and values.
In Translators Guild you can find contribution, experience and guidance from the most diverse group of contributors literally from all around the world.
Lifecycle of a project
Projects start with ideas. If you have an idea in the scope of Translators Guild, that can benefit bDAO mission and members.
- Start with creating a Minimum Viable Proposal, this written document of your idea will help others to have time to think about the idea by joining the async. Post your MVP in the in the #translators-projects channel under Translators Guild and talk about it in a weekly TG meeting for brainstorming.
- See if there is enthusiasm about the idea. If there is, ask the guild to open a dedicated thread under projects channel. if not scrap the idea or go back to the drawing board and update your MVP with the feedback you got from the guild.
- Check if your idea needs to include other guilds. It is ok to have a cross guild collab idea, but you need to be sure that your idea has strong translation tasks included. All the coordination should come back to the guild with translation tasks that the guild can have contributors joining the project from the languages.
- If the project is cross guild collab and has strong tanslation tasks, the first pre-study task is to do an extensive research with the other guilds and see if the project should really start in the translators guild. Other guilds (or teams) might have better kick off structures that your project might fit well. Try to record your meetings and conversations in a notion page. You can ask for a notion page from the guild project manager.
- If everyone is convinced that the project should start in the translators guild, write a brief explanation of how the project is found relative to the guild and ask the guild for consensus by a poll to start your pre-study phase with the pre-study budget ask in the translators guild. If the poll passes, continue with the discussions in the project thread.
- Squad up!! Start coordinating the contributors that are interested in the project. Seeds of a future squad might start to develop in the pre-study phase. Keep early contributors informed about the project, everyone might offer their talents at different phases of the project
- Project ideatooors are invited to be the “project leads” in the beginning of the pre-study phase. A project lead coordinates the pre-study team in the beginning, drives the proposal draft work, creates starter tasks and reviews the tasks that are marked “done”, coordinates between the team, guild project manager and the guild itself. In the later phases of the project, the project lead is responsible for team coordination, due diligence, communications between teams and guilds.
- Start drafting a proposal with the team:
-
Set meetings according to your needs (weekly, bi-weekly etc.)
-
Keep the discussion going in the thread
-
Start a Notion page for the project
-
Update the guild through the channel and in weekly TG meetings.
Good questions to ask during the proposal phase is:
- Is this idea inline with bDAO values and mission?
- Is it the right moment for this project or are there more pressing issues?
- Are the goals, expected results or deliverables of the project clear?
- What resources might be needed
- Which other guilds needs to be involved
- What are the deliverables of the Proposal?
- Audience research
- Strategy
- Budget/funding
- Time plan
- Roles
- Bounties
- KPIs of the project
- Calculate your project budget, can the budget be handled in TG resources or does it need a Grants Committee funding?
- Keep your proposal draft public in the Notion and ask for feed back from the guild frequently.
- When you think the draft is ready, make a poll in the “announcements and polls” channel to get the guilds feedback. If there needs to be updates, go back to your proposal and make your updates. Poll the updated proposal until it gets a go from the guild.
